Biography

Stefan Rusch is a Dutch Paralympic athlete who specializes in 100m and 200m wheelchair racing. As an active child he fell in love with the sport at the age of thirteen. That same year the athletics world championships, that wheelchair racing is a part of, took place near his former hometown. At these championships he saw Paralympic champion Kenny van Weeghel win a gold medal and a dream was born.

In the years to follow Stefan won multiple medals at junior (world) championships, in 2010 he won GOLD during the World Junior Championships in a junior world record. The year after he competed in his first senior world championship and won a BRONZE medal.

 

His Paralympic debut at the London 2012 and becoming European Champion in 2018 are the absolute highlights of this career. 🥇
